Our Story
Who we are
Ziv Neurim is a nonprofit organization established in the year 2000 by ex-naval commandos. It is named after their fellow commando, Ziv Levi, who fell in the line of duty. The organization currently operates five marine centers along Israel’s coast for youngsters at risk of dropping out of the education system.
Our vision
To provide challenging and exciting marine activities for youngsters at risk of dropping out of school and for other special-needs groups, as a means of enabling each individual to maximize and realize his/her potential in all aspects of his/her future life.
Man cannot discover new oceans
unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore

The Social Project
To create an independent source of income, so that we are not totally dependent on philanthropy, we run a project offering marine activities to firms and families, which combine the strengthening of group identity with challenging and unforgettable outdoor experiences.
Our Activities
The Educational Program
The model
Ziv Neurim’s educational model is based on marine activity. Underlying the activity are five core elements described in the research into school dropouts as supporting the individual in dealing with challenges that could result in dropping out.
The core elements
The core elements are: perseverance, personal coping, personal responsibility, physical fitness, and experiencing success. Each element is implemented via a series of values expressed in the marine activity, using the range of sea craft, such as kayaks, SUPs, surfing and windsurfing, sailing and diving.

Meet our youngsters
The best way to get to know us is to hear from our participants themselves
Meital Ardohar, a graduate of Ziv Neurim
Ziv Neurim is my second home! There I learned a lot and received tools for adult life. I feel that Ziv Neurim understood me and prepared me for my military service and life in general.
Itai Pachrotinov, a graduate of Ziv Neurim
Ziv Neurim is a family. As part of it I was given tools to help me cope with life. I developed, I learned lots of things and discovered the sea and marine sport.
Adga Ababe, from the Ashdod Marine Center
Ziv Neurim gave me confidence, through the sea. My group leader taught me to believe in myself and not give up. This year I realized a dream and represented Ziv Neurim in the Tel Aviv marathon.
Simcha Tarepha, a graduate of Ziv Neurim
Benayahu Biton, a graduate of Ziv Neurim
Ziv Neurim was something I looked forward to every week. The sea, the activities, the love and friendship between the group members and the group leader, it doesn’t exist anywhere else! In Ziv Neurim I received lots of great tools for life that helped me in many situations that I had to face.
Kobi Zaken, graduate of Zim Neurim and now a leader of the Naveh Galim group
Ziv Neurim is my home. There, by means of the sea and surfing, I learned how to overcome life’s obstacles. It gave me values, discipline, and tools which help me in my day-to-day life.
